The Knighton
and District Concert Society has been running for
over sixty years and aims to bring classical music
to the people of this small Welsh Market town who
would otherwise have to travel to Birmingham,
Shrewsbury or Hereford. There are five main concerts
in a season, which starts in October and runs
through to March. We try to use young professionals
where possible, which not only gives them an
opportunity to perform, but showcases the marvellous
up and coming talent we have in this country. The
programme is varied, with solo vocalists, piano
players, string and wind ensembles, percussion, and
sometimes groups with more unusual instruments.
The Concerts
are held in St Edwards Church Hall in Knighton on
the fourth Sunday in the month at 3.00 pm. Tickets
are on sale at the door and cost £8.00 with entry
for children free (no concessions). It is also
possible to buy a multiple/season ticket at the
start of the season for £32.50 for five concerts.
These are transferrable, so if you have to miss a
concert, you can loan it to a friend for the day.
